The small town (pop. around 15,000) where I grew up had two hobby shops. They both carried balsa wood stock, plans, solid balsa, and stick and tissue rubber band powered models, as well as U-control kits and engines.

When I got back into model building as an adult, there were three good ones and a not-so-hot one within 30 to 45 minutes away on the near side of Dallas, plus on the far side of BigD. The only one of these that survives is on the far side, and from where I live now is three and a half hours away. There was a good little one in Tyler (only an hour away, but the nice old gentleman who owned it died and his elderly wife couldn't operate the business.

Why are they all gone????????????

How long has it been since you dropped in and bought something?

Did you get your kid interested in building models? Or perhaps your grandkids?

It ain't nobody's fault but OURS.

Bob

I have found the new high end self adhesive hooks that are on the market are perfect for the ceiling, they are more than strong enough to hold the light weight paper models, leave no holes in the plaster, and are cheap. I use large pushpins into the model that blend in well, and cheap fishing line. I have had only one "crash" and that was due to anti-aircraft fire from my cat...the model suffered no damage in the incident.
