This plane has been in the Navy since 1945, when It was brought to Pax River for testing at the end of the war. Later it did duty as a gate guard at NAS Willow Grove, Pa. After a trip- to Texas, where it was complelely dissassembled and all the parts copied, in order to create several flying replicas, it was restored and sent to the Delaware Valley air museum. finally it's come down here, to becoome a permanent part of our growing display. this is a rare ME262B, two seater. Although nazi stuff usually creeps me out a bit--this ones been in the USN long enough to somewhat easy the discomfort.

Wow!!!! That's awesome. The only German plane of that era that I've seen up close is a FW-190. A 262 would be sweet.

Nice, Rob! One of the movers and shakers at Delaware Valley used to be a boardmate... and a Class 2 gunsmith friend owns a fully functional MK108 (well, aside from lack of ammo anyway, LOL) 30mm autocannon out of one of these birds, so the 262 is a minor interest for me even if not at Blackbird/BUFF/Hawg/Nighthawk level.

If I had the skill and data, I'd build my friend a Me262 nose section to display his toy in... then I'd have to figure out something similar for the M61A1 beside it on the bench.
