Hello from Mineral, VA! (Land of CSX and BB).

Maybe I'll be building an N-scale railroad layout.

While I'm deciding, I've got a starter kit oval and I'm playing with paper models from here for buildings.

Retired and living in a mobile home (jack the hitch out of the ground and put on axles and wheels and it's a trailer), I have less space and money but more time than the last time I build a model railroad.

Paul

P.S. Virtual trains -- Train Simulator 2014.

Welcome, you will find tons of buildings for train layouts, some are already scaled for you. When you wrote Mineral, I thought you were talking about California which is only 40 miles or so from me. Nice little town (hotel, laundromat, store and possibly a gas station) with lots of cabins, located in the Cascade/Sierras at the foot of Mt. Lassen, which is an active volcano.

This Mineral isn't too different! While I have a Mineral mailing address, I'm actually in an unincorporated part of Louisa County.

The brief blurb:

Mineral is a town in Louisa County, Virginia, United States. The population was 424 at the 2000 census.

Mineral was originally known as Tolersville, but adopted its current name when it incorporated in 1902 due to the mining industry that supported the community. It was the center of gold mining activity in Louisa County, and during its heyday, there were fifteen gold mines located within two miles (3 km) of the town. A zinc and lead mine also operated in the area into the 1970s.
Mineral is located at 38°0′22″N 77°54′34″W / 38.00611°N 77.90944°W / 38.00611; -77.90944 (38.006117, -77.909553).

For excitement I watch CSX moving coal and sometimes other stuff.

I've downloaded bunches of buildings already and for practice I'm building the H0 size to have bigger parts to work with. Once I'm under the illusion that I know what I'm doing, I'll put together the N size.
