We fly our FG models in the back yard via swing control. This illustration from an old Comet stick and tissue model briefly describes the process. The method is also shown on the FG J-3 Piper cub model.

A few of the models that we fly are the FG J-3, FG Sailplane, and Wallis Rigby B-17.

The process is very easy and can be done in a small flying space such as the back yard and doesn't disturb the neighbors.

It is very cheap, requiring only a fish pole, some nylon thread, and a few fish line connectors.

And the FG and Rigby models fly well.

Very cool! It's kind of like the gas powered line control planes, but much quieter and cheaper! Do you set the control surfaces to any particular angle? Also, what kind of nose weight are you adding?
